Common questions
Does extending the canvas generate more scenery?
No. It adds transparent or solid-colour space without resizing the source pixels. With explicit edge padding, top and left values determine placement; when specifying a larger canvas instead, the anchor determines placement.
Why does transparent padding become white after download?
JPEG cannot store transparency. Enable a transparent canvas and select PNG or WebP in export settings. Keeping a JPEG source format fills transparent areas with the background colour. Inspect the download in an application that displays transparency.
Can I shrink an image here or add space on only one side?
Canvas extension does not shrink or crop the source when a requested canvas is smaller. For one-sided padding, set the other three edges to zero. Use resizing to reduce pixels and cropping to remove unwanted edges.
