Common questions
Can exposure or gamma recover completely white highlights?
They change the tonal relationships of existing pixels, but cannot recover detail already lost in the source. Use the luminance histogram and a full-size comparison to avoid crushing shadows or clipping more highlights.
Which control should I try for a yellow or blue colour cast?
Adjust temperature gently, using neutral areas and skin tones as references, then refine exposure and saturation. Temperature changes the red/blue balance rather than performing automatic white balance; mixed lighting may not be corrected by one value.
Does more sharpening always make an image clearer?
No. Sharpening strengthens existing edges but can amplify noise and create halos; it cannot reconstruct out-of-focus text. Inspect at the intended display size, start low and reduce sharpening if grain or bright outlines appear.
