About this tool
Choose the right context before building a query string. A parameter value and a complete address need different treatment of separators.
How to use
Choose the context first: URL component for an individual value, full URI to retain address separators, or form value to encode spaces as plus signs. Edit either side to update the other.
Only form mode turns a plus sign into a space when decoding. Incomplete percent escapes and invalid UTF-8 bytes produce an error. Processing stays local, with a 2 MiB input limit.
Common questions
Why are spaces sometimes %20 and sometimes +?
Component mode uses %20; form mode uses +, and only form decoding turns + into a space. These two modes encode a literal plus as %2B. Full URI mode preserves reserved URI characters, including +.
How should I encode a value containing & or =?
Select component mode for one parameter value: a&b becomes a%26b. Use full URI mode for a complete address whose separators must remain intact. The tool does not visit the address.
Why does decoding a percent escape fail?
Each % needs two hexadecimal digits, and the decoded bytes must form UTF-8. Recopy a truncated value from its source; changing modes cannot repair missing bytes.
