About this tool

Calculate SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SHA-1 and MD5 hashes of UTF-8 text, with a copy button for each result.

How to use

Type text or open a UTF-8 file to update its hashes. Spaces, line endings and letter case are part of the input. Even an empty string has a defined digest.

All algorithms are available over HTTPS; plain HTTP provides SHA-256 and MD5. Use MD5 and SHA-1 only when comparing legacy checksums, not for security signatures. Text is processed locally and may be up to 2 MiB.

The initial empty input intentionally shows no result. To check the digest of an empty message, use the explicit empty-message action in Advanced. Spaces and line breaks are still meaningful input.
